Our CEO, Sid Cox, returns to RECCo

We’re pleased to announce that Sid Cox returned to RECCo on Monday 4th December. During his planned medical leave to undergo surgery, the Board and Executive Team successfully implemented a leadership contingency plan. Elizabeth Lawlor acted as interim CEO, with Mark Loveday and Jonathan Hawkins joining the Executive Team and covering Elizabeth’s brief of Operations and Operational Programmes, respectively. Please join us in wishing Sid a warm welcome back!

Sid joined RECCo when it was founded in 2021, having worked in the energy industry for 30 years with Shell, Enron, and EDF Energy. At RECCo, his role is to lead and develop the team to meet strategic objectives and improve the retail energy market and consumer outcomes. You can learn more about the Executive Team here.

A word from Sid on his return

“I’m delighted to be back at RECCo ahead of schedule.  During the last two weeks, I’ve been getting up to speed with the great strides the team has been making under Elizabeth’s diligent leadership in fulfilling our current Forward Work Plan objectives and in identifying the coming years’ priorities.  The team has also had to roll up its sleeves with REC Parties and REC Service Providers to overcome some unexpected service challenges.

A big thank you from me to the RECCo Board and the RECCo Executive for their ongoing support during my absence and especially to Elizabeth and all the members of the RECCo Team for ably and successfully executing our leadership continuity plan.  My thanks also extend to the REC Service Providers and REC Parties for supporting our improvement efforts during this time.

I have been particularly impressed by the level of engagement and quality of detailed feedback on our services captured by everyone who attended the nationwide roadshows Elizabeth led during the summer.  We will use your insights and those provided by our second annual stakeholder survey to make incremental improvements in the short term and reshape our services in the medium term.  It will be our priority over the next few months to finalise and share our next Forward Work Plan with you as we strive to facilitate a better retail energy market and better outcomes for consumers.”

Thank you from Elizabeth

“It has been my pleasure and privilege to lead the organisation over the last six months. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the REC Board, my RECCo colleagues, and all the REC Parties and REC Service Providers who have offered me support and encouragement during this period.

My priority during this time has been to identify improvements to the core REC Services and to build capability in the organisation to deliver for the future. I look forward to continuing to support RECCo and the industry in achieving our shared ambitions next year.”
