Have your say on the future REC Portal and Digital Services

We’re launching a new Digital Services Community to help shape the future REC Portal. Find out how to get involved and share your insight as we begin the journey to a better user experience.

Introducing the Digital Services Community

We will be building a brand-new REC Portal to improve your experience with the Retail Energy Code (REC)—and we want your help to shape it.

Set to go live in Autumn 2026, the new REC Portal will make it easier to access the tools, services, and information you need. To ensure it meets your requirements, we’re launching a Digital Services Community—an open, flexible space where REC users can connect, contribute, and co-design better Digital Services.

Whether you’re a frequent user, an occasional visitor, or simply curious about how the REC supports the retail energy market, your voice matters.

Why now?

Over the past year, we’ve carried out a full review of the Code Manager Service to help shape our future procurement strategy. Alongside that, we’ve gathered valuable stakeholder feedback—highlighting the need for significant improvements in our Digital Services, particularly around usability, navigation, and information access.

From strategy to delivery

Together, the review and your input have built a strong case for change. We’ve now moved from strategy to delivery:

  • Published our Forward Work Plan 2025-28
  • Completed a full procurement process
  • Appointed a new Digital Services Provider
  • Started developing the new REC Portal

We’re inviting you to stay involved as this work progresses.

A flexible way to get involved in the community

The Digital Services Community is not a formal committee—it’s a user-led community that offers flexible ways to get involved, on your terms. You can:

  • Drop into planned online sessions that match your interests or expertise
  • Take part in testing, feedback, or short surveys
  • Join early previews, review prototypes, and shape how things work
  • Stay informed and connected, even if time is tight

Our work will focus on key user journeys to ensure the new Digital Services are accessible, intuitive, and valuable to all.

Share your insight

We’re keen to understand more about you and how you might like to contribute.

Please take a few minutes to complete our short survey.

The survey asks about your role and organisation, how you currently use the REC Portal, what areas you’re most interested in shaping in the REC Portal and Digital Services (e.g., usability and navigation, market entry, or service management), and how you’d like to engage with the project (e.g., join sessions, give feedback, or stay informed).

Once you’ve registered, we’ll invite you to our Introductory Digital Services Community Webinar, where we’ll share more about the project and what’s coming next.

If you have any questions, please contact recportalrelaunch@retailenergycode.co.uk
