RECCo welcomed stakeholders from across the energy sector to its latest Tariff Interoperability (TI) industry webinar, providing an update on Phase 1a implementation following the publication of the Government Response in May 2026.
The session marked an important milestone as Tariff Interoperability moves from policy development into implementation. Speakers outlined what suppliers should be doing now to prepare for the February 2027 go-live, the phased approach to delivery, and how RECCo will support the industry throughout implementation.
Key topics included:
- The confirmed Phase 1a scope, delivering public tariff pricing information through a standardised API with no customer consent required.
- The phased delivery approach, with consumer-specific tariff information forming Phase 1b and integrating with the Consumer Consent Solution (CCS) from November 2027.
- The supplier-led testing approach, supported by RECCo through validation tooling, implementation guidance, testing workbooks and industry working groups.
- The implementation timeline, including technical consultation, operational readiness activities and supplier management attestation ahead of go-live.
- The importance of beginning or continuing implementation now, as no material changes to the Phase 1a design are expected beyond significant defects identified during testing.
The webinar also reinforced the role of ongoing collaboration through the Tariff Interoperability Working Group (TIWG) and Implementation Working Group (IWG), encouraging organisations to raise questions and implementation issues early to support successful delivery.
What happens next?
Over the coming months, RECCo will continue to support the industry through:
- Technical consultation on the API Specification and supporting documentation.
- Pilot testing and supplier implementation activities.
- Continued engagement through TIWG and IWG.
- Publication of webinar materials, FAQs and updated implementation guidance.
- Consultation on Phase 1b and Consumer Consent Solution integration later this year.
Thank you to everyone who joined the webinar and contributed to the discussion. Your feedback and questions continue to help shape implementation guidance and ensure a consistent, interoperable solution for industry.
