About our role: What you’ll be doing

The Risk Analyst is a key role within the Finance and Commercial team and reporting into the Head of Commercial Procurement. The outputs from the risk management function is seen across the business, reported quarterly to the Audit and Risk Committee and 6-monthly to the Board.

The Risk Analyst is primarily responsible for evaluating and forecasting potential losses or risks that a company may encounter. You will use various statistical techniques, strategies, and risk assessments that RECCo may encounter. You will work closely with each risk register holder (functional and projects) and will use various statistical techniques, strategies, and risk assessments to predict and minimize potential risks and losses.

You will play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could potentially harm RECCo, it’s compliance obligations, projects and outcomes. You will analyse data, create models, and develop strategies to help RECCo mitigate and manage risk. Your day-to-day duties may include reviewing conducting risk assessments, monitoring market trends, maintaining a comprehensive corporate risk register, delivery key licenced compliance activities, advising projects on RAID logs and communicating findings up to Board level.

The Risk Analyst plays a crucial role in helping RECCo make informed decisions to safeguard their business operations.

Your day-to-day

  • Identify, assess, and monitor potential risks across business functions and projects, developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct horizon scanning and predictive analysis to identify future risks and propose preventive measures and solutions.
  • Perform risk assessments on company assets and projects
  • Perform statistical and data analysis using appropriate software tools to support risk evaluation, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Prepare consolidated monthly risk reports summarising Principal, Functional, and Project Risk positions for presentation for dissemination across the business and reporting to the Audit & Risk Committee and the Board.
  • Develop and deliver risk-related communications, including newsletters and Monthly Notification updates to Functional and Project teams to promote risk awareness and engagement.
  • Maintain Risk Management procedures, policies, and guidance documentation, including continuous improvement of frameworks and protocols.
  • Administer and maintain Risk Management SharePoint sites, ensuring documentation remains current, clear, and accessible to stakeholders.
  • Challenge and validate risk assessments submitted by Risk Owners to ensure accuracy, consistency, and robustness of risk evaluation.
  • Conduct audits of policy and compliance to standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, corporate governance standards, and internal risk management frameworks.
  • Work closely with the RECCo compliance team to ensure that licence compliance risks are identified and actively managed.
  • Maintain and update the Function Risk Register and Principal Risk, ensuring all key risks are accurately recorded, correctly classified, and that mitigation actions are tracked to completion.
  • Support projects in the development, maintenance, and governance of RAID logs, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all project documentation.
  • Participate in cybersecurity risk management activities, including ISO 27001 assessments, working closely with security teams.
  • Conduct third-party and vendor risk reviews, including assessment of contracts and supplier risk posture in line with organisational standards
  • Supporting the Chief Finance and Commercial Officer in placing annual insurances

About you: What you'll bring

  • Proven experience conducting risk analysis and developing risk models – typically gained through around three years’ relevant experience, although we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate equivalent capability.
  • Expertise in risk modelling and forecasting
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance
  • Ability to navigate complex data sets and experience with statistical analysis software
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficient digital skills, ideally experience of using PowerBI
  • Ability to work under pressure
