RECCo Chief Executive to retire after more than five years leading the organisation

RECCo today announces that Chief Executive Officer, Sid Cox, will step down from his role and retire after more than five years leading the organisation. His final day with RECCo will be 14 August 2026.

Since joining RECCo, Sid has led the organisation through a period of significant change across the retail energy market. During this time, he has helped transform RECCo from a newly established company into a trusted and influential organisation at the heart of the retail energy market, serving market participants and delivering outcomes that are fair, transparent and in consumers’ interests.

During his tenure, RECCo has supported the delivery of Ofgem’s Switching Programme, helped prepare the market for Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement, expanded its role in supporting energy digitalisation and taken on new responsibilities that support interoperability, innovation and positive change across the sector.

Chair pays tribute to Sid’s contribution

Hannah Nixon, Chair of RECCo, said:

On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Sid for his exceptional leadership, passion and commitment to RECCo over the past five years.

“When Sid joined RECCo, the organisation was still in its infancy, and the Retail Energy Code arrangements had yet to be implemented. Since then, together with the Executive team, he has successfully guided RECCo through a period of significant industry change, helping to establish RECCo as a trusted and impactful organisation, driven by a mission to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the energy market for the benefit of consumers.

“His contribution to RECCo, REC Parties and the wider industry has been considerable. Under his leadership, RECCo has supported some of the most significant reforms in the sector in recent years, while building a reputation for expertise, transparency and collaboration. The strong foundations he leaves behind, including an exceptionally high-performing team, will continue to support the organisation’s success.

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Sid for everything he has done for RECCo and wish him a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.

Sid Cox said:

It has been a privilege to lead RECCo over the past five years and to work alongside such talented colleagues, stakeholders and industry partners. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together and the role RECCo now plays in supporting an effective and evolving retail energy market.

“I leave confident that RECCo is well-positioned for the future. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to RECCo’s success and wish them every success in the future.
