About our role: What you’ll be doing

You’ll support RECCo’s transformation portfolio. The role will initially be aligned to the Code Manager Evolution project, working closely with a Project Manager, subject matter experts, technical specialists, operational teams and stakeholders across the retail energy market.

This is an active delivery role. You will own the business analysis work needed to move the project forward: planning the analysis approach, creating and maintaining clear outputs, bringing stakeholders together, resolving ambiguity and ensuring decisions, requirements and operational impacts are understood in time to support delivery.

As a permanent member of the Transformation Team, you may move between projects over time, applying your skills to different initiatives as RECCo’s change portfolio evolves.

Initial project: Code Manager Evolution

Code Manager Evolution is a transformation project transitioning established activities and processes into a new operating model. You will analyse existing processes and help define and implement new ways of working across service, operational and technical areas. Parts of the future state will continue to develop during delivery, so you will need to make assumptions visible, identify the decisions required and help stakeholders reach practical, timely outcomes.

The work will include requirements, future-state processes, operational procedures, testing, implementation, training and handover. The project uses a flexible, hybrid delivery approach, and the analysis method should be proportionate to the work and decision being supported.

Your day-to-day

Analysis planning and ownership

  • Own the business analysis workstream for your assigned area from initial scoping through to implementation and operational handover.
  • Agree and maintain a proportionate analysis approach with the Project Manager, including milestones, dependencies, stakeholder inputs, outputs and acceptance points.
  • Plan and progress your work proactively, arranging the engagement needed, following up actions and escalating risks or blockers early

Business analysis and requirements

  • Analyse current and future-state processes to identify gaps, risks, dependencies and opportunities.
  • Elicit, analyse, document and validate business, functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate traceability between business outcomes, requirements, solution decisions, testing and operational processes.
  • Refine requirements throughout delivery, ensuring changes and assumptions are visible and understood.
  • Tailor the level of detail to the purpose, risk and delivery timescales.

Process and operational design

  • Develop clear process models, business process documents, operating procedures and supporting analysis that can be understood and used by the intended audience.
  • Work with subject matter experts and operational teams to define practical future-state processes, roles, controls, information needs and hand-offs.
  • Identify where ownership or decisions are unclear and help the project establish workable accountabilities.
  • Ensure analysis products are reviewed, agreed and kept up to date throughout delivery

Delivery, testing and decision support

  • Work closely with project managers, technical specialists, service teams and delivery partners to provide the analysis needed for design, build, test and implementation.
  • Contribute to solution design through process models, data mappings, options analysis and supporting documentation.
  • Define business test scenarios and expected outcomes, clarifying requirements, and helping resolve defects or issues.
  • Assess the impact of proposed changes across people, process, data, technology and controls.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops, interviews and review sessions to elicit requirements, resolve issues and support timely decisions.
  • Document and communicate decisions, assumptions, dependencies and outstanding points.

Operational readiness and transition

  • Work with business-as-usual teams to understand current operations and assess the impact of proposed changes.
  • Contribute to readiness planning, training, communications, cutover, go-live and early-life support activities.
  • Support the development and handover of operational documentation and training materials, ensuring they are complete, usable and owned by the receiving team.
  • Help confirm that the change is understood and can operate effectively in practice.

About you: What you'll bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience working as a Business Analyst on change or transformation projects, including delivery and implementation rather than discovery alone.
  • Strong core business analysis skills, including process analysis, requirements definition, impact assessment and stakeholder facilitation.
  • Evidence of taking end-to-end ownership of analysis activities and outputs, with the ability to plan, prioritise and maintain momentum.
  • A proactive communication style, keeping people informed, surfacing issues early and taking ownership of progressing agreed actions.
  • The judgement to balance detail and quality with pace, risk and the practical needs of delivery.
  • The confidence to work with ambiguity, incomplete information and competing stakeholder views, making assumptions and decisions visible.
  • The ability to produce clear, accurate and usable written outputs for different audiences.
  • The confidence to challenge constructively, influence without formal authority and help groups reach decisions.
  • A collaborative and pragmatic working style, with personal accountability for commitments and agreed outcomes.
  • Experience of working with external organisations or in a regulated environment would be helpful, but is not essential.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with internal teams and external organisations, adapting your communication to the audience.
  • Experience bringing together differing stakeholder views, challenge constructively and translate discussion into clear options, decisions and actions.
