About our role: What you’ll be doing

The Market Design Administrator is a development role for someone interested in building a career in regulation, policy or governance, particularly within the energy sector. No previous experience of the energy industry is required. We are looking for someone who is curious, organised and keen to learn.

The role will provide administrative support to RECCo’s Market Design Team, which helps develop and improve the rules and arrangements that support Great Britain’s retail energy market. Alongside their day-to-day responsibilities, the successful candidate will have opportunities to learn how the energy market is governed, how industry rules are developed and changed, and how decisions are made.

The Market Design Administrator will help the team work effectively by coordinating meetings, maintaining records, preparing information, supporting reporting and assisting with engagement activities. They will also support meetings of RECCo’s Design Authority, which reviews and guides proposed improvements to the Retail Energy Code.

This role offers practical experience, structured development and exposure to a wide range of regulatory, policy and governance activities, providing a strong foundation for a future career in the energy sector.

This will include supporting across meeting management, team admin, engagement and reporting tasks.

Your day-to-day

  • Meeting Management
    • Support the efficient running of Design Authority meetings, including collation, quality assurance and publication of meeting papers, general meeting support and preparation of decision material.
    • Organise regular and ad-hoc Design Authority and Market Design Team meetings as required from time-to-time.
    • Maintain a forward-schedule of meetings and proposed agenda items to support planning and co-ordination.
    • Maintain accurate logs of actions and decisions taken at meetings and ex-committee.
  • Administration
    • Maintain and align registers, roadmaps, templates and trackers required to oversee the status and performance of the change pipeline.
    • Manage shared email inboxes, providing timely and quality responses to emails with support from the wider team.
    • Provide communications support to the Market Design Team / Design Authority, including liaising with relevant teams to communicate items to internal and external stakeholders and obtaining stakeholder feedback.
    • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the team.
  • Engagement
    • Support engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including diary coordination, meeting preparation and follow-up actions.
    • Represent the Market Design team in internal meetings, such as planning and prioritisation meetings.
  • Reporting
    • Review and cleanse underlying data to ensure accuracy of reporting.
    • Coordinate and produce internal reporting on performance and outputs of the change process and activities of the Design Authority.
  • Development
    • Take ownership and accountability of personal development plan;
    • Engage with and shadow internal team members to develop skills, expertise and experience;
    • Develop an understanding of the Retail Energy Code arrangements and wider energy industry;
    • Undertake ad hoc development tasks as set by line management.

  • Some experience of administration, coordination or managing competing priorities, which could have been gained through work, education, placements or volunteering
  • Confidence using digital tools to organise, track or co-ordinate work and a willingness to learn systems such as Jira or similar project management tools.
