Our response to: Consultation on the Role and Powers of the Energy Ombudsman

On 4 December 2025, we published our response to the Consultation on the Role & Powers of the Energy Ombudsman, supporting the aim of faster, fairer redress while highlighting the need for a clearer, evidence-based diagnosis of what’s currently going wrong, and for reforms that improve outcomes without overcomplicating the process. We also set out how Retail Energy Code (REC) capabilities, including the Consumer Consent Solution, could help enable consent-based data sharing and “tell us once” style auto-onboarding to reduce friction for consumers.
